Last night was a lazy night for me. But then again lots of nights the past week or so have been lazy for me. I'm really ready to tone the whole humping heroics every night down some. Of course I want to finish out my rep with the Argent Crusade and then finish up the Horde Expedition, but I'm ready to work on some other things. Last night I ran Halls of Lightening with Delynth, Noxxic, Jules, and Evildeio. (Yep, he's a creative genius!) We pretty much flew through that place. Had a couple of casualties. Mainly from certain death knights popping Army of the Dead. I won't mention any names since there's three in the group. Anywho, had a couple of deaths on the boss, but our second death we killed the punk. We just couldn't stay alive after he went down. hehe So HOL done, no axe for the noobknights. I dropped group and let them pick up Kroffjr to go blast through another dungeon that I had no particular interest in running save the achievements I have left.
So I jumped on Neeuq and headed out to Sholazar Basin to do some farming. I've been there since 71 and I'm barely into 72 just farming for mats. I can usually acquire a nice stash of Saronite and random herbs for Kroff. Last night I got a couple of stacks of bars for Kroff to try and get his last point in Engineering and collected a bunch of herbs for Noxxic to work on his Inscription. Kroff didn't get his last point but Noxxic got high enough to start making the cards for the Nobles deck.
After reading BBB's blog yesterday about a certain little trinket, I've decided I'm going to try and get it for myself. He made a very convincing argument for Darkmoon Card: Greatness in yesterday's blog. I've really only had my sights set on the 111 trinket out of Azjol-Nerub and hadn't given much thought to a second trinket. After all my Commendation of Kael'thas still works nicely for me and has saved my butt numerous times. My goal is to get the Essence of Gossamer though to replace the Commendation. My own personal bubble, yea, that would be nice for times when Jules isn't around to save my furry behind.
In any case, so I farmed last night. For a while. It really wasn't that bad. I hung out on vent with our group as they braved Ahn'kahet and chatted with them. When they were done I passed out goodies I had collected and hopped on my Death Knight for a few. She's so close to 62! I really wanted to get her there but Kroffjr, Jules, and I decided to walk through Sethekk Halls and try for the Raven Lord. Yea, old school, I know, but I really want that freakin bird. According to Wowwiki the drop rate is less than 1% but seeing as everyone and their brother, well everyone but me that is, has one, the chances have to be a little greater than that. Our goal is to three man the heroic until we see the thing drop for all three of us. I figure I'll have my Lower City to exalted by then. I only need 8,354 more rep. And if the drop rate is really that bad, I figure a few THOUSAND runs will get it for me at 3 rep a kill. (That was total sarcasm for those of you who missed it.) Ah well, night one of the grind down. Let the countdown begin!

Three Heroics Down...
Last night was a good night. Ahtabat, Kroffjr, Delynth, Juliettah, and Noxxic took on three heroics, and in record time for our crew I might add.
Kroffjr has instituted a new rule that we /roll and pick a dungeon we want to hit up. The highest roller wins and the group parades to the dungeon to ransack it's loot and move on. Typically, we hit up the daily first though. Yesterday's daily....
Drum roll please....
Stratholme! OMG shocker! It hasn't been Strat, in what, 24 hours?
Okay, I can't complain, I like Strat. It's usually quick and I want to bust that place down til we get the achievement and the extra boss.
Last night's strategy...hump those zombies like mad and bust our way through in less than 25 minutes.
Were we successful? No. BUT we came awfully darn close. A devious plan to kill me so he could tank *cough* Delynth *cough cough* set us back a couple of minutes and ultimately cost us the goal. We hit the new bosses' spot roughly one minute and sixteen seconds after the time ran out.
It is very possible for our merry little group to hit up this boss now. After last night's awesome performance, I'm sure of it.
In any case, daily done. Time for the rolls to begin! And the first winner is....Me! Yay me! My pick? Heroic: Utgarde Keep
What? Utgarde Keep? Why in the world do I want to go to Utgarde Keep? Why my friends? I'll tell you why. Because of all my research, the best freakin belt for me pre-25 man's is none other than the same belt that my handsome undead husband has...Sharp-Barbed Leather Belt. And...it dropped! We basically walked through the dungeon, got my belt, and then Noxxic, the punk that he is...offed two of us as we're leaving. Don't worry...revenge will follow...and soon.
Time to roll again! Who wins? Kroffjr. His pick? Gundrak. Again, suprise, surprise. What we're after? Gored Hide Legguards. I swear I don't think these things will ever drop. However, he got smart last night and we did the dungeon with the least amount of trash pulls possible and flew through there in about half an hour.
Three heroics in one day. Not bad, not bad at all.
As an aside, I scored myself three nice upgrades yesterday. The priciest by far was my new cloak: Durbale Nerubhide Cape. But this baby was worth it. There are two possible upgrades before the 25 man raids for me. One comes from emblems of valor...so that's technically not an upgrade outside of 25 mans, and one comes from Obsidian Sanctum. I'm not sure when that's going to get tackled again, so yay for my new cloak!
Then of course, I got my waist. Sirgona popped a nice +25 stam gem in them and they are a beaut.
Last upgrade of the night was my new neck: Chained Military Gorget. I finally went with this one. My toss up choice was Titanium Earthguard Chain. I finally went with the emblem purchase because after the nerf bat armor reduction, the crafted neck piece will not hold as much value.
With the three upgrades I received last night, my new stats (or the ones I'm proud of) are as follows:
27k unbuffed life now :-) 30k here I come!
26k unbuffed armor
146 hit
4006 ap in bear
Upgrades are a'comin...I can feel it!
Biggest upgrades for Ahtabat via heroic dungeons:
Essence of Gossamer - Heroic Azjol-Nerub - Delynth wants this too, so it's a roll-off fight to the death when it drops
Mask of the Watcher - Heroic: Oculus - we haven't attempted this one yet, so it will be interesting
Keystone Great-Ring - Heroic: Drak'tharon Keep - Mirroden has this and he's not even a tank! Ahhhhh!
I'm hoping to get my shoulders crafted tonight: Trollwoven Spaulders. Those will be the best shoulders I can get before the 25 mans. Then I have to decide what legs and boots I want. After that and the dungeon romping to acquire said items, I'll be set. Hopefully pushing, if not over 30k unbuffed hp and 30k armor (or a lot more).
Ah the dreams of bear...

Raid Time
Sorry I've been MIA everyone. I've had a nice infection/virus/cold (Doctor's can't really decide) for over a week now and needless to say I've felt like poop. In any case, Ahtabat is still alive, just a little crappy and drugged up.
Last night was our first night in one of the new 10 man's, Obsidian Sanctum. I will say, this is a very cool instance. Our crew last night consisted of:
Ahtabat - main tank - Feral Druid
Delynth - off tank - Death Knight
Juliettah - healer - Discipline Priest
Marissal - healer - Holy Paly
Kroffjr - dps - Combat Rogue
Mirroden - dps - Unholy Death Knight
Floppie - dps - Destruct/Demo Warlock
Brinas - dps - Shadow Priest
Kinslaughter - dps - Affliction Warlock
Noxxic - dps - Unholy Death Knight
Upon entering Obsidian Sanctum, we took the mob to the left and worked our way around behind the boss to each of the mini bosses. Our first pull consisted of four dragonkin, two of which were casters. Delynth and I both pulled two of the dragonkin, one caster and one non-caster. Our raid dpsed the casters first and then the non-caster. The mobs are fairly easy save the fire aoe the casters do. Healers should be on their toes as all raid members will be taking damage from the aoe. Occasionally a ball of fire will spawn in over the raid and randomly target raid members shooting them with a fire beam. I didn't notice how much the beam hit for, but it wasn't too bad and very easily healed through. You can not get out of range of the beam, so just heal through it and move on.
After the first mobs went down, we had two guardians that patted to kill. I took one and Delynth took the other. As with all mobs, these should be faced away from the group. They do a shock wave of sorts that hits pretty hard. The mobs also randomly pass out curses to raid members. The curse heals the mob whenever the raid member does damage to it. This again, wasn't a big deal, but I did noticed that it proced quite a bit. As soon as skull went down, I would pop out of form and remove curse on all those that had it. Typically it was three or four people, again not that big of a deal. Your raid should be fine if you don't have a druid with you.
The next pull, is the first mini-boss. We tackled Vesperon first. Vesperon and Shadron are very similar fights. The main tank and the healer assigned to the main tank will be on the boss at all times. All three mini-bosses spawn small red rings that do burst damage. Make sure all raid members move out of this ring when it spawns. All three mini-bosses also open portals. All dps, the off-tank, and the raid healer should click on the portal as soon as it spawns. Again, the main tank and the healer assigned to the main tank should stay outside of the portal and on the mini-boss. Everyone else will move inside the portal and get on whatever spawns inside. With Vesperon, a single mob spawns that the off-tank will pick up and the raid will dps down. While the portal is open, Vesperon's damage is increased by 50%. This was difficult for my healer to keep up with and eventually led to my death as he ran out of mana. By the time I died, Vesperon was so close to dead, it wasn't a big deal and I was the only casualty. I was rezzed, we gathered our emblems and moved on.
The next two pulls were the same as the first two, a group of four and then two mobs. We downed them and moved on to the back mini-boss, Tenebron. This one, was a pain. Delynth and I switched up here so that the healers could have my innervate if needed. Not knowing what this boss did, I later learned that it was useless as there was no way I could innervate anyway. Upon entering the portal, we discovered it wasn't just a single mob, there were eggs. The goal is to aoe/dps the eggs down as fast as you can before the elite baby dragons pop. Our first engagement was unlucky as our aoe died right off the bat leaving only the melee to deal with the eggs. We wiped up that pull and Delynth and I switched back. I was about to pull my hair out running around trying to pick up all the dragons that popped.
*As an aside, I would like to mention that, No, Druids do NOT always make the best AOE tanks. I myself have a really hard time keeping an AOE group together. As of right now, the only attack I have for AOE groups is Swipe, and until the next patch when they buff it, it doesn't hit very hard. After the patch, my opinion might change, but right now I say that either the Prot Paly or Tank Death Knight make a better AOE tank.*
The raid reformed, rebuffed, and tried again. I tanked Tenebron and Delynth and the others took out the eggs. This strategy worked much, much better. Our AOE dps stayed alive and most of the eggs went down before they hatched. Tenebron down, we gathered another emblem and moved on.
Again we pulled two of the same groups and hit up Shadron. This fight was very similar to Vesperon. In fact, they're almost identical. The one major difference with Shadron is what happens when he opens the portal. He gets a shield that protects him from 100% of damage taken. So basically, I'm not doing any damage while everyone else is in the portal. This wasn't a big deal and Mar had a much better time keeping me up as I wasn't taking spike damage from an increased damage buff. Shadron down, we moved on to the big boy.
Ah Sartharion, oh how I hate you, let me count the ways. Okay, here's the deal on him. He's sitting on this island like thing. When the tank engages, you have to turn him 90 degrees so his side is facing the raid. As with all dragons, he does a fire breath that hits like a mac truck and must be kept away from the raid. I'm still not sure if he does anything with his tail, but better safe than sorry right? So I've got him to his side and the dps is kind of spread out all over this island. Big mistake. Every so many seconds, he summons the lava around him and it builds up and pours over the island. You do NOT want to get hit with this. The lava puts a dot on you that does something like 600 damage every so many seconds. I can't remember the exact amount it does, but it ate through my clothies.
He also summons fire elementals that the off-tank needs to pick up. These aren't really a big deal unless you let them go through the lava. At that point they receive a buff that enrages them and they do 400% more damage. Also, at something like 10% life, he summons a lot of little elementals that need to be picked up and AOE'd down quickly.
Okay, so now that you know what he does, here's the strategy. I would charge in, giving Sartharion a chance to move up a couple of steps. This put him exactly where I wanted him. I turned him 90 degrees and the dps moved in. After our first attempt, we learned that everyone needed to stay huddled together to help AOE the elementals down. It was a suicide when everyone was spread out. The group would move in to his side allowing the melee to be in hitting range and the AOE dps a nice circle to hit the elementals as they popped. When the lava starts, you need to look to see where it is and adjust accordingly. We got lucky our second attempt and most of the time the lava came from behind me. I had Sartharion facing right as you come in through the portal. This put three lava shoots behind me when they spawned. If the lava came from the other direction, there would be only two but they would be much wider. The raid would have to adjust itself in one direction or the other depending on where the lava came from. When it came from behind me, the group would stay where they were and be right in between two shoots. When it came from the other direction, they would have to move back or foward through Sartharion to avoid the lava. (This is by far where we had the biggest problem).
Our second attempt was an awesome attempt and the best one we had last night. We lost a healer and a dps right off the bat, but still managed to get him down to 10%. My healer and shadow priest ran out of mana and couldn't keep the group up through the elementals that spawned and that was what finally got us. I was very, very proud at that attempt though.
We gave him several more good tries, but never quite got him as low as the second attempt. Our morale got very low towards the end and everyone starting giving up I think. It is very possible to do with the group set up we had and I'm positive that we would have had him had we not lost a healer and dps right off the bat the one attempt.
Next time we venture into Obsidian, my goal is to get the raid to move in a timely fashion when the lava comes. I really think that is our biggest problem at the moment. I have several, all clothies, that have a hard time seeing where they need to move.
All in all it was a good night in there. We didn't see him down, but we did see him close and we definitely have what it takes.
Last night was our first night in one of the new 10 man's, Obsidian Sanctum. I will say, this is a very cool instance. Our crew last night consisted of:

Into The Halls of Lightening
The daily was Heroic Stratholme, BUT one of our fearless crew decided to venture in the night/morning before and was saved to a different instance...I won't mention any names *cough* Mirroden *cough cough* Anywho...we ended up trying Heroic Halls of Lightening. I honestly thought we were going to have a harder time with it than we actually did. The instance is not very caster friendly. Most mobs had an immediate attraction to Floppie and Juliettah. At one point Floppie said he was just going to hang out and let the mob charge him since he wasn't getting to cast anything anyway. :-) Flop does dps? Who knew?
The first boss, General Bjarngrim, gave us no problems at all. I tried my best to pull him in time to get the achievement, but alas, I was unsuccessful. My biggest problem as tank was keeping aggro on the little guys as well as the general. In Heroic the mobs do a knock back...which I later learned was something new with disengage. Annoying...that's what it should be called. Nothing ticks me off more than to pop Beserking and immediately be knocked back. -_- But this was the most of our problems so all in all an easy fight.
The next room was a bit more of a challenge than normal poses. It is the room with the non-elite fire elementals. They continue to respawn until you kill the next boss. We stuck with our usual plan where I ran straight through them to the stairs on the other side of the room. This plan would have worked just fine had all the mobs stayed aggroed to me. I believe Jules healed me though and they turned and ran back to her. Whatever happened, they offed Jules and Flop before I could get control of the situation. Mirroden stayed with me for a little bit, but they got him too low without any healing and he died as well. Kroffjr almost bit the dust but we killed the last of them before he died. He ate while I rezzed our fallen companions and we continued on.
The second boss, Volkhan, was cake as well. I thought his shatter might get us, which it did Jules...thank goodness for Soulstone. But we killed him so fast we got an achievement for getting less than four shatters. We collected our loot and moved to the room I was really worried about. Again, my worries were in vain. I honestly thought we would have to fight the whole room of statues, but we didn't. The first group we pulled was two, the second was three, and the last was four. The last was tough with the stupid disengage they do, but we got them down no deaths and moved on.
The elemental boss, Ionar, was about the same on heroic as he was on normal I thought. The spiders came and we ran like scared little girls as usual and then kicked his butt when he reformed. Ionar down, loot received, moving on.
Loken, ah Loken. I hate you. This was by far the worst part of the dungeon. He, as he does in normal, has an aura that puts a debuff on you. The further you are from Loken, the more damage he does to you. This rears it's ugly head especially when he does his Lightening Nova. I was able to pop my Barkskin and my Survival Instincts if I thought he was going to do too much damage to me during this phase, but my poor clothies couldn't take the hits. We made it through two Lightening Novas before I lost the healer and the dps started going one by one. Our second try I believe, we had him to 26K. It IS possible to take him down...and to take him down in under 2 minutes for the achievement...we just needed a little more healing or a little more dps to finish him off. We were extremely close but never could get it.
I think a few more upgrades for us all and we'll be ready for Loken again. You're going down Loken...you're going down!
The Violet Hold...Heroic Style
My first post as a WoW Blogger...Yay! Okay now that that's out of the way...on to the good stuff!
As of late, five guild-mates and personal friends have been taking nightly romps through dungeons. Our crew consists of myself, Ahtabat, Kroffjr, my rogue dps machine and other half, Juliettah, my disc priest healer and personal friend, Mirroden, another personal friend and death knight noob, and a guildmate Floppie, better known as Floptimus prime the Warlock. The past couple of days we've ventured into heroics. Last night's undertaking...The Violet Hold. This was after our warm-up in the Keep, which is basically on farm status now. However, Ahtabat did see two nice upgrades from the keep which included Bindings of the Tunneler and Enraged Feral Staff boosting my life up to 31k buffed and armor to 25k. It might have been three good upgrades for the Aht, but alas, I allowed my other half, Kroffjr to get his waist since I received two upgrades to his one.
In any case, The Violet Hold. I will say this one is rather easy mode once you know how the bosses work. Our first boss was Xevozz. He proved to be a bit of headache at first. Three wipes and I finally wizened up and looked up some tips on him. The trick for this one is to kite him around the balcony from where he emerges from his cell. I'm not sure what he does in normal as this was my first time fighting him, but in heroic he summons two arcane orbs that follow the highest threat holder (ideally the tank) around and arcane blast as they go. The orbs have too much life to be killed before they kill the attacker, so you have to keep your distance from them. This worked pretty well for us once we figured out what the heck to do. I grabbed him when he emerged and backed my big butt up the rubble that leads to the upper balcony. From there we moved slowly around the upper balcony and started down the stairs and back towards his cell. By time time he was about half life or so and he did a teleport to the center of the room. We immediately spread out and I watched to see where the orbs were that he was going to summon. They ended up being right next to his cell so I hit reverse and started back up the stairs in the direction that we came. We finished him off and claimed our reward, celebrating our victory after a few failed attempts. Our reward was less than thrilling as no mail wearers accompany our merry group. Yay shard for me!
Our next boss was Moragg, the larger than life floating eye ball. I have fought him numerous times in normal mode and really wasn't worried about heroic. Thankfully, my non-worrying proved correct and we one shotted him like the wuss he was. We gathered our loot and moved on. Ah Cyanigosa...again, cake. We one shotted her as well. One note on her, my healer sometimes has a habit of standing behind me in case I have to start kitting. She likes to keep a lead on me for heals, hey, I'm not complaining. A live druid is better than a dead druid... However, in this fight, the tank needs to be the only one that Cyanigosa is facing. She does a nasty cone of cold that hit's like a mac truck. My fragile Jules got it on her right off the bat and I thought I was going to lose her. She finally got the dot off her and we marched on to victory. That is the only major concern for this fight. Stay out of the blizzards...no, snow fall no fun in this fight, heal through the dots, and keep her faced away from the group. Tank her sorry dragon butt down and gather great loots for everyone!
All in all it was a very productive night for our little group. We received several upgrades overall plus completed the heroic daily and reaped up lots of rep and badges. Kroff's goal was three heroics last night, but our wipes on the prick of a arcane thief set us behind and we finished with two heroics down. Still...I'm not complaining.
This is Ahtabat...until tonight!
